Activities & Teams for the year 2012-2013

 

The following sub-committees have been constituted to work on various activities planned for this year. Our objective is to make the association more dynamic, interactive and inclusive. Hence, alumni from all corners of the world are invited to engage with the sub-committees as per their area of interest.

So, just go ahead and get in touch with any of the teams that are mentioned below.

 

Alumni Networking & Chapter: Alumni Associations are convenient means of keeping in touch with fellow alumni. These also serve as platforms, which enable alumni to contribute to their alma mater and the society at large and facilitate interaction between the Alumni, Faculty and Students. This team focuses on Alumni Networking and Chapter Promotion, merchandize, organizing chapter elections, etc.

Alumni Day: This idea was mooted last year and has been given a fresh boost by Prof. Shevgaonkar, Director, IIT Delhi & Chairman. The Alumni Day, may be combined with the Silver Jubilee Reunion, and shall be celebrated across the world every year.  The plan and other details are being worked out along with the Institute.

Amendment in the Alumni Association Constitution:  Primary goal is to make the constitution simple yet exhaustive. The objectives laid down by the team as mentioned below.

 

1. To amend the constitution on the current needs of various stakeholders.

2. To seamlessly bind it with the law of the land without any possible anomalies.

3. Build constitution of the association based upon its original charter and the current needs.

4. Make an effective and usable constitution for better governance by executive, effective connect

with alumni, staff and students.

Cultural & Sports: Is responsible for Cultural events for the Delhi Chapter.

Publication/ E-News & Data Updation & Direcctory: This team aims to build an upto-date alumni database and generate funds for the association events. This will help IIT Delhi alumni to connect through print and digital media.

 

Objectives:

1. To publish a digital newsletter with a focus on subject of technology, society outreach,events,   discoveries, IIT Delhi paradigm and more.

2. To publish a printed newsletter with a focus on subject of technology, society outreach, events, discoveries, IIT Delhi paradigm and more.

3. To update directory of IITDAA as per current contact details of the alumni.

4. To raise funds through printed directory.

IITD-IITDAA Interaction: This team’s goal is to increase IITD – IITDAA Interactions at the Institutional and Individual levels. Their objectives are mentioned below.

 

Institutional Level

  1. To take forward the recommendations of Leadership Conclave VISION 2020 on sub themes, engaging IIT Alumni in national policy making, Improving Infrastructure etc.  
  2. To initiate Interactive sport events with IITD faculty and IITDAA alumni participation

Individual Level

  1. To initiate action on guiding and mentoring students / PhD Scholars / start of new courses
  2. To recognize and incentivize environment protection efforts in the campus through awards.

Industry Academia Interaction: The objectives are mentioned below.

 

Objectives:

1. To understand the current gaps between industry and academia and work on them.

2. Approach the industry in an open fashion without limiting the efforts to IIT D Alumni.

Seminar & Society outreach: This team endeavours to establish a connect with the society at large through outreach activities based upon needs, issues and solutions.

 

Objectives:

 1. To arrange seminars, workshops and symposiums on various subjects specifically undertaken by 

 eminent people who have expertise on the concerned subject

2. To organize Health camps, Voluntary services, etc. for the IITians to reach to the society, at  Large

Student Welfare: The Association desires to build a connect between alumni members of the IITDAA and the current students by creating a favourable eco-system.

 

Objectives

1. To arrange recreational and intellectual apetite fulfilling events for the purpose of connecting with students

2. To participate and brand IITDAA in student annual festivals like Rendezvous

3. To introduce scholarships, awards, citations, tech-exhibitions, etc.

4. To mentor passing out students so as the charter of IITDAA is fulfilled

5. To handle student problems in academics, hostel, food, sports, etc. by forming expert groups

for such purposes

6. To initiate Back office support for students for specific activities

7. To initiate social programs with them

Web Portal Sub-Committee: The website is being transformed into an interactive platform for the alumni to showcase their achievements, connect with each other and engage intellectually in addition to keeping a track of what is happening at their alma mater. The efforts this year should help double traffic and ‘stickiness’.

 

Annual Plan

    3. Activation of discussions by involving alumni anchors from different batches
    4. Showcasing of alumni achievements with regular stories
    5. Online opinion polls every month
    6. Integration of silver jubilee celebrations, Innovation Centre, etc. with the website
    7. Management of linkages with Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn
  2. Re-activate jobs for alumni
  3. Activate a platform for collaborations, vendor identification, etc.
  4. Activate a payment gateway for donations, merchandize sale, event registration, etc.
  5. Introduce modules for merchandize and event registration
  6. Track website advertising effectiveness
  7. Re-try online polling
